The trimester assessments will not overwhelm students by being not at the same time as the PARC assessments
Having no homework will allow kids to spend more time studying for their assessments.
Teachers will be not allowed to give other exams and class time will be more likely to help students review.
Since they have only 26 to 27 min and won't be allowed to give homework it is more likely that they will not teach overwhelming material.
Allows for continued teaching time
Having an abbreviated school day after testing instead of having testing throughout the abbreviated day creates less stress
This solution will not have to be brought to the Board of Education's Finance or Personnel committees because it does not require fundraising and it does not require a reconstruction of the teachers' pay schedule during testing.
WEAKNESSES
There will be a takeaway from instruction and teaching time by being longer and not allowing continuation of teaching
Students will have to take three tests a year which means there will be more material on each assessment.
Kids will still be required to learn new material during the exams which would put some stress on students.
Only having 26-27 minutes doesn’t give teachers enough time to reach the amount of content that must be covered by the end of the course
The Curriculum and Policy committees may not pass on our solution to the full Board of Education if they do not believe in its success. Also, the committees may take a long time to debate and revise our proposal leading to an elongation of the stress associated with the current quarterly schedule.
